Zazou Salon & Academy is an environmentally friendly hair salon located on the North Shore. We have two locations, one in Lynn Valley and one on Lonsdale! The Chamber of Commerce has recognized us as an honorable mention for Best Employer of the Year and we have been awarded Finalist for Sustainability by the Contessa National Hairdressing Awards. With over 30 years in the industry, we are planning to open 5 locations in the next 5 years with 3 more locations to go! Become a part of our growth by joining us!

At Zazou you are able to fine tune your skills as a stylist while getting paid hands on work experience in the salon. Don’t ignore this opportunity! We will teach you the skills needed to become a $100,000+ stylist and join the ranks of a high performing hairstylist. We are looking for applicants wanting to continue their career as as hairstylist at Zazou after the completion of the program. Attend the program and work as an Apprentice throughout.

Advanced Academy Description:

With our Advanced Academy Program, you will increase your confidence working with guests in a salon environment and hone the fundamental skills and techniques learned during hair school. Consultation, timing and results are essential to providing a five star guest experience and this takes practice!

Our program is a minimum of 10 months, and we help keep you motivated to complete the program in a timely manner by setting goals and deadlines by working and learning closely with our educators, mentors and coaches.
Model work is mandatory. We have a list of guests are open to being models for Academy, but it is still your responsibility to book at least 2 models every class and seek them out. We want to make sure that you use your Academy time wisely and it helps teach you the skills to promote yourself and grow your clientele.

There are 4 terms to the Advanced Apprenticeship Program. Each term includes a class, followed by model time!
Term 1: Styling + Culture, Term 2: Cutting, Term 3: Colour, Term 4: Advanced Techniques. For more information on our program click here!
The program is $3000 and each term can be paid in full or incrementally as you progress through the program.
Throughout the program you will be scheduled to work as an Apprentice and will grow into a Personal Assistant working with a Senior or Master Stylist. Once you have successfully passed Term 2 you can be scheduled as a Junior Stylist. Typically this will be within the first 6 months of the program.

Apprentice Job Description:

Washouts, toners, blowdry/style, and hair treatments
Salon cleanliness and proper disinfection to Beauty Safe/Salon Standards; especially during covid times,this requires us to constantly stay on our toes.
Housekeeping is a critical part of the job, so needless to say, we love a good clean freak! We take pride in our salon cleanliness, so housekeeping standards take a very high priority on our team. Apprentices are our cleaning rockstars and main team members responsible for the overall cleanliness of the salon. This includes, sweeping like a boss, laundry, dishes, cleaning stylist’s stations, cleaning colour walls and assisting with any other duties assigned.
Being a team player and assisting hairstylists with their responsibilities
Assists Guests and visitors in a friendly, proactive and efficient manner with appropriate follow-up as necessary. Show off your bright side by greeting our guests with a welcoming smile and a positive vibe.
Learning all the hair tip and tricks known to man! You will amass extensive product knowledge on all our brands.
Keep Guest notes and service history current and up-to-date.
Offer value added services to guests such as skin and scalp analysis, and scalp massages.
Advance the success of yourself, and those around you by contributing when called on by your team.
Helping maintain a fun, positive work environment – if you’re succeeding, we’re succeeding!

Requirements: Accredited Hair School Certificate + Must be able to work mornings/evenings/weekends

Schedule:

- Typically 6-8 hour shifts

- Day shifts

- Evening shifts

- Weekend availability required for one weekend day

Supplementary pay types:

Work Location: Scheduled at either our Lynn Valley or Lonsdale locations

Compensation

$17.40 - $18.00 per hour
